The paper reviews recent findings about geometric identities in integral geometry and geometric tomography, and their statistical application to stereological particle analysis. Open questions are discussed. This survey can also serve as an introduction to modern stereological particle analysis for readers who are interested in the mathematical background of the new methods.Downloads
